Providing temporary relief of an immediate food insecurity need in the lives of families and individuals, while nurturing a sense of community.

Made To Serve seeks to insert itself in the community where food insecurity exists. Made To Serve (MTS) distributes sack lunches in the Kansas City metro area to hungry and homeless each week, and distributes bread to needy families in Lee’s Summit. MTS runs a small emergency food pantry, and coordinates a “4 for 5” program that provides five days of emergency grocery assistance to hungry families. MTS will be partnering with other Lee’s Summit organizations and churches to help host neighborhood block parties in neighborhoods deemed “at risk”, help educate community groups and bible study meetings about food insecurity, and help host cooking events. The goal of MTS volunteers and leadership is to minister to those who are hungry and in need of a simple friendship, prayer or conversation.
